Okay this is seriously pissing me off.

This was in the New York Post! I think it's disgusting. This is what she looked like.

Okay, now clearly that outfit is heinous and I will admit that she has probably gained 10 to 15 pounds. But honestly that's not fat! It is like the shape of Marilyn Monroe or Elizabeth Taylor. It's curvy and feminine AND sexy. I think it's disgusting that just because she's an entertainer that she's supposed to be stick thin, especially if that isn't natural for her body type.
Sorry this really irritated me!

Oh and I'm not even a Jessica Simpson fan. I'm just pissed off as a fellow woman and entertainer.
1You're right, HF - she is in no way fat! She's definitely a victim of bad fashion, but come on! And why is it that it seems that WOMEN are subjected to this scrutiny, but men aren't???

That cartoon is appalling. I'm so pissed as a woman, too.
3I really don't understand how anybody could say something bad about her body. She looks great, even in that god-awful outfit.
4Thanks for posting this Harm - this is just horrible how this have been played out in the media all week. There is nothing to write or analysis but her weight. I think she looks fine but the outfit does have to go!
Happiness is not, except in very rare cases, that drops into the mouth like a ripe fruit.Happiness must be,for most men and women,an achievement rather than a gift of the gods, and in this achievement, effort, both inward and outward, must play a great part.
5I agree with all of you ladies. This whole thing is ridiculous! Yeah, she's gained like 10 pounds, but who cares? Those pants are hideous and that's the only critique we should be hearing.
6I find her incredibly irritating but that cartoon is disgusting. So are the cries of "OMG she is sooo fat" that I read on pop when they posted this picture. Granted the outfit is awful but her body is curvy and sexy. Haven't her curves always been one of the things she is known for? She was never a stick figure like other female celebrities.
The NYP should be ashamed of itself. This misogynistic cartoon is a disgrace.
7That cartoon is evil and I feel bad for the fact that a media sect would go after Jessica Simpson .. she's by no means fat at all but a victim of bad fashion especially the "Mom Jeans" she's wearing in the pic below. Jessica is naturally curvy she has a lovely body and all I can say is "Leave Jessica Alone" . The Audacity of people poking fun at weight when it's a real touchy subject for us ladies out there. That's just mean.
8Yeah for that rack I'll be "fat" any day. This criticism is pretty ridiculous. Even if she did get fat, which she clearly didn't, she's a musician not a model and people she be criticizing her music/albums/concerts/live performances not her figure.
9I really like Jessica, and it's so not that big deal she got some lbs on... she still looks better than some... i heard tony is a cheater, so it must be so hard 4 her 2 pass all this rumors about her being fat, about her man cheating!! she looks fabulous, i really like girls with some meat on their bones... Beyonce is so much fatter than Jessica & she is so cool about it, and man love her!!
10I actually like JS but I have to say her dad totally creeps me out and I'm wondering if this is a publicity stunt. Like how Jennifer Love Hewitt had those pics and then she was on the cover of US Weekley saying how she lost 20 lbs.
I'd be willing to be that JS has another single dropping soon... just sayin'. Plus she could use the good press, all the press about her now is either about how her and Tony are breaking up or about how her album is flopping.
11Those are good points, haus.
12i totally agree with you!! they made such a fuss about it and shes just a bit more curvy! the cartoon is outrageous and exaggerated
13Yes this is all very sad and stupid.
I'd just like to add my personal experience. I'm 5'1 (I believe Jessica is 5'2?) and about 3 years ago I weighed 20 pounds more than I do now --- let me just say the difference between my body and face then to it now are VAST. 10, 15, or 20 pounds on a frame my side looks like a lot more than it would on someone taller and maybe more big boned.
I still cringe when I look at pictures of myself like that. I was so unhealthy. I'm proud to say that I'm now healthy, in shape and happier.
